Diversity EVENING

Diversity Evening is one of UWAYE’S flagship events in which representatives from different companies are invited to share their various learnings acquired from their engineering backgrounds, and their own individual diverse experiences and traits, that have shaped them professionally in their careers today.

2023: Diverse Minds Meet Innovation

UWAYE and Women in Mathematical Sciences (WiEMS) once again collaborated to host the 'Diverse Minds Meet Innovation' event which focused on how diversity played a significant role in their company's innovation.

Similar to 2022 Changing with the Times' event, the evening featured several rounds of soft skill workshop led by the industry professionals and a panel discussion with panellists from various engineering disciplines and industries.

2022: Changing with the Times: Exploring Engineering Pathways

UWAYE collaborated with UWA Women in Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (WiEMS) to host the first ever ‘Changing with the times: Exploring Engineering Pathways’ Event.

The networking event featured a round of soft skill activities, in which students collaborated and gained insight from companies about various soft skills that are valuable and applicable in the different industries today.

The night also featured 2 rounds of panel discussions in which panelists discussed and answered questions regarding their unique career pathways and insight into diverse pathways that engineering can take you on.

2021: Diversity of Thought Evening

UWAYE’S 2021 Diversity of Thought event acknowledged the strength in diversity and invited companies to showcase how diversity has positively impacted their company.

Speakers were invited to speak and join the panel hosted, in which they discussed their own personal experiences and how their own diversity has shaped them today and impacted their career trajectory.

Students also had the opportunity to collaborate with various representatives through a Diversity and Inclusion Design case study, hosted by HATCH. Attendees learned on the importance of a D & I design, and how it can foster an inclusive work environment, and create value for communities and clients.
